General objective:
Train professionals who can use fundamental and applied knowledge about materials , so that they can be converted into products that society needs or wants.
Specific objectives:
Train human resources that have the following characteristics:
- Basic training in physical, chemical and mathematical sciences.
- Ability to investigate new materials, select and improve those already known by developing a deeper understanding of the relationships between: microstructure, composition and synthesis.

Admission Requirements
The general requirements to enter a degree program at the University of Sonora are as follows:
- Request registration with the Directorate of School Services in accordance with the terms of the respective call.
- Submit a full certificate of higher secondary education studies.
- Submit a certified birth certificate.
- Submit entrance exam and be accepted according to the terms of the respective call.
- The others that are established in accordance with article 22 of the current School Regulations.
