General objective:

Train professionals with the theoretical-practical bases to develop in the growing market of the mining-metallurgical and metal-mechanical industry in Mexico, and especially in the northwest region.

Specific objectives:

Train human resources that have the following characteristics:

  • Participate in interdisciplinary projects in which technical knowledge in the areas of metallurgy is required.
  • Design equipment and accessories inherent to metallurgical processes and operations under technical criteria that allow resources to be used with high efficiency.
  • Select materials and equipment based on adequate and safe work, under norms and standards that guarantee high quality in metallurgical process plants.
  • Establish the variables that allow controlling, conducting, optimizing and evaluating metallurgical processes and operations.
  • Develop and adapt technologies in the field of metallurgy, with criteria of productivity, efficiency and ecological respect.
  • Consider the production costs associated with the operations of the metallurgical processes and the preventive maintenance of equipment installations.

Admission Requirements

The general requirements to enter a degree program at the University of Sonora are as follows:

  • Request registration with the Directorate of School Services in accordance with the terms of the respective call.
  • Submit a full certificate of high school studies.
  • Submit a certified birth certificate.
  • Submit entrance exam and be accepted according to the terms of the respective call.
  • The others that are established in accordance with article 22 of the current School Regulations.
