General objectives:

  • Train personnel with a high academic level and broad and sufficient knowledge of the contents, theories and methods of the main branches of mathematics , with skills for autonomous study and understanding of the results and advances of modern mathematical research.
  • Prepare human resources capable of carrying out advisory tasks and mathematical support in research and development projects in the different disciplines of a scientific and technological nature.
  • Train trained personnel to carry out original and independent research in the field of mathematics and its applications.
  • Prepare human resources suitable for teaching at the university and postgraduate levels.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the levels of mathematics education in northwestern Mexico

Specific objectives:

  • Consolidate the basic training of students in the main branches of mathematics.
  • Prepare trained personnel for the autonomous exercise of research work in mathematics.
  • Prepare staff, endowed with extensive knowledge of the main branches of modern mathematics, to develop teaching tasks at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Prepare trained personnel to participate in multidisciplinary research programs and projects.
  • Prepare personnel with a high capacity for work and innovation to participate in the study and solution of mathematical problems arising from problems of social interest.
  • Prepare trained personnel to carry out advisory tasks and mathematical support in research or development projects in other disciplines.

Admission Requirements

Entry requirements and required documentation:

  • Register online at https://aspirantesposgrado.uson.mx and attach the documentation specified below: Birth certificate, Certificate of qualifications from the previous grade, Title or exam certificate from the previous grade.
  • Non-graduate students must attach a copy of the intern letter, the transcript and documents that show substantive progress in their thesis, as well as a commitment letter that the degree will be obtained during the second semester of the year of admission.
  • Send to the email [email protected] letter of application for admission according to the format in http://posgrado.mat.uson.mx/ingreso/formato_solicitud_ingreso.doc.
For Master's degree applicants:

  • Present and pass an admission exam in which it is demonstrated to have the maturity and knowledge equivalent to those of a Bachelor of Mathematics.
  • Attach to the system a letter of recommendation from a professor-researcher with the requirements established at http://posgrado.mat.uson.mx/ingreso/requisitos_carta_recomendacion.pdf .
  • The Academic Commission will conduct an interview with the applicants who, in its opinion, require further information regarding their admission.

Additional documentation for foreign students:

  • Valid passport in your admission application
  • For foreign students admitted to postgraduate programs, it is also required to comply with each of the following requirements at the time of formalizing the registration: Submit a copy of your immigration permit to study in Mexico (copy of your visa and Temporary Student Resident Card ).
  • Applicants whose mother tongue is other than Spanish will be asked for an evaluation of their command of the Spanish language, in accordance with the provisions of Article 76 of the REP.
  • The bachelor's or master's degree, as the case may be, must be apostilled by the government of the foreign country or legalized by the Mexican embassy of the country where the student comes from.
