Objectives:
The Master's in Linguistics at the University of Sonora intends to consolidate, improve and continue the work already begun in the undergraduate program. The main interest of the Master's in Linguistics postgraduate program is to train Masters in Linguistics of the highest academic quality so that they deepen, consolidate, and expand linguistic knowledge, especially with regard to the linguistic diversity of Mexico, in American countries. and from other places in the world. Without losing sight of the insertion of this knowledge in the environment of the national and international culture of the current context.
Specific objectives of the Master in Linguistics:
- Train highly trained personnel in the area of indigenous language research from a perspective that values the interrelationships between form and function.
- Prepare human resources with high capacity for analysis, interpretation and promotion of scientific advances in linguistic matters, to strengthen research on the indigenous languages of the region, the nation and the American continent.
- Consolidate a regional effort to develop linguistic studies in this area of knowledge and thereby contribute to the impetus that is sought to be given to research on indigenous languages by other researchers from national and foreign institutions, thereby contributing to the development of the discipline.
