General objective:

Train professionals who guide their intervention to:

• Intervene with a sense of responsibility , commitment, efficiency and effectiveness, in addressing both individual and collective problems and needs, with the purpose of influencing the improvement of living conditions.
• The design and implementation of proposals for professional intervention in the protection, conservation and preservation of the environment; organization and promotion of educational, recreational and cultural activities; attention to social problems derived from the different educational levels; attention to social problems related to individual and community health care levels; attention to social problems in the legal-penitentiary field, and attention to needs arising from the processes of selection, hiring and training of personnel, as well as those arising from labor relations.
• Promote professional actions from the different areas and fields of intervention that achieve a social impact on individuals, groups and communities.
• Propose, promote and promote forms of social intervention aimed at contributing to the processes of social, economic, political and cultural development in the region.
• Consolidate a set of theoretical, conceptual, historical, philosophical, methodological, technical and instrumental references typical of the specificity of the professional field as well as incorporate contemporary contributions from the disciplines of Social Sciences.
• Promote and foster in students inter and multidisciplinary work that allows generating a comprehensive vision of social problems that can be intervened, as well as fostering the spirit of tolerance, collaboration, solidarity and equity.
• To train Social Workers capable of competing professionally in the labor market through the design of strategies that lead to the approach of social problems, using the advances generated by the new information and communication technologies, which will allow raising the quality in the provision of services. professional services.
• Promote sensitivity and humanitarianism in the face of social problems based on the interactions established with individuals, groups and communities.

Specific objectives:

• Train students to identify the dimensions of the problems that can be addressed by Social Workers to distinguish the forms of intervention in the different historical moments of the development of the profession.
• Identify needs of individuals, groups and communities that are solvable through the mobilization of resources or services from public, private and social institutions.
• Identify the types and general characteristics of the carrier of needs and deficiencies, of the carrier of resources and satisfiers, and the intermediation process.
• Train students in the selection and application of techniques and procedures for the search for valid, objective, reliable, timely and practical information that allow them to recognize the existence of problems, developing skills for coding and representation from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective. .
• Train students for the construction of social diagnoses establishing the relationships between the determinants of need and their correspondence with the available resources, analyzing, conceptualizing, contextualizing and delimiting the problems that can be intervened by Social Work.
• Train students for the preparation and execution of plans, programs and intervention projects in order to meet the needs demanded, developing both administrative and educational functions.
• Train students in systematization processes that account for the results obtained through both qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the impact of their professional intervention.
