  • Efficiently, responsibly and humanitarianly attend to the psychological problems that arise in the different areas of well-being and social development in which the behavior of the individual is of essential importance for life in society, both at the local and regional levels as well as at the national level .
  • Contribute significantly to the improvement of individual and community health, to the conservation and protection of the environment, to the harmonious development of human coexistence in society, to the improvement in the production and consumption of goods and services, and to educational and cultural progress. of the society.
  • Address the problems concerning Psychology from a critical analysis of its nature and the conceptual and methodological models that constitute the theoretical body of the discipline.
  • Collaborate in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams to comprehensively address the complex nature of social problems.

Specific objectives:

  • Train students to observe, segment, record and represent quantitatively and qualitatively in a systematic, orderly and objective manner psychological interactions of different modalities in diverse scenarios.
  • Enable students to identify and quantitatively and qualitatively represent functional variations of psychological interactions in diverse scenarios.
  • Train the student to select, adapt, build and use appropriately and effectively instruments and techniques for diagnosing psychological problems, as well as to report the results obtained.
  • Train the student to prepare accurate psychological diagnoses, based on the results obtained from the application of psychological detection techniques, instruments or procedures in different problem areas, especially those of greater relevance in the northwestern region of the Mexican Republic.
  • Train the student to develop psychological intervention plans consistent with the diagnosis in different problem areas.
  • Train the student for systematic, responsible and ethical intervention in the solution of psychological problems based on accurate diagnoses and through the rigorous use of effective techniques and procedures for psychological change in different problem areas.

Admissions and costs

Undergraduate entry requirements include a high school diploma, a filled in application form, passing the admissions tests and proof of your proficiency in English. Keep in mind, you’ll also need a passport, student visa and health insurance to enter the country.

Tuition fees at undergraduate level include a MX$1,860 enrollment fee (≈US$89) and tuition is based on the number of courses a student takes per semester and their average grade from their previous semester, starting at MX$1,520 (≈US$72) per course. Depending on your grades, though, you may be eligible for a tuition fee reduction of up to 100%.

The cost of living in Hermosillo, where the university is situated, should be no more than US$700 a month, including accommodation, groceries, and transportation, though of course this figure can vary depending on the type of the accommodation you seek (whether a hotel or flatshare).

Costs, scholarships and admissions

To be eligible for postgraduate study, you would need a bachelor's degree, a GPA of 8.0, proof of your proficiency in Spanish and English (with a TOEFL score of 450), the GRE subject test (depending on the course), two letters of recommendation, a personal statement and a research proposal (only for PhDs).

UNISON offers all students with an average grade of somewhere between 80 and 85 a tuition fee reduction of 50% in their second semester.  This figure can rise up to 100% depending on their grade.

Students can also apply for a CONACYT scholarship for a monthly stipend of approximately MX$13,769 (≈US$770), provided they have a GPA of 8.0.
