General objective:

Train a generalist Geologist , with solid knowledge of petrology, mineralogy, stratigraphy and tectonics, as well as a strong command of geological cartography and a general vision of the areas of application. In addition to having the option of in-depth knowledge in some area of applied Geology (Economic Geology, Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology).

Specific objectives:

Train the student to select the pertinent methodology in the resolution of geological problems in the field and office.
Train the student in cartographic field work and in the new technologies used for this purpose.
Give the student sufficient academic tools to develop in any area of Applied Geology or in a specific area of it.
Give the student the opportunity to get involved in research projects.
Allow the student a link with their postgraduate studies.
Promote inter-institutional mobility in the student, the culture of sustainable development and self-learning mediated by their tutor.

Admission Requirements

The general requirements to enter a degree program at the University of Sonora are as follows:

Request registration with the Directorate of School Services in accordance with the terms of the respective call.
Submit a full certificate of high school studies.
Submit a certified birth certificate.
Submit entrance exam and be accepted according to the terms of the respective call.
The others that are established in accordance with article 22 of the current School Regulations.
