General objective:
Train integral professionals to:
- Efficiently, responsibly and socially address the problems that arise in the different areas of individual and collective well-being and development at the local, regional and national levels in which communication is of essential importance.
- Address the problems concerning communication from a critical analysis of its nature and the conceptual and methodological models that constitute its theoretical body.
- Collaborate in inter and multidisciplinary teams to comprehensively address social problems.
- To promote in students theoretical reflection subordinated to the problems that occur in the different fields of professional action, thus contributing to the development of communication as a field of knowledge and as a profession.
- Train competent Communicators through the principles of active teaching and self-mediated learning, focused on solving problems of empirical reality, with the help of new information technologies applied to teaching.
Specific objectives:
The specific objectives describe the moments of the directed training process, they are defined based on the competences foreseen in the Graduate Profile, based on their development throughout the study plan and their relations of progressive inclusiveness:
- Train students in the mastery of the conceptual, methodological and technical resources of the Communication Sciences necessary to identify and diagnose the communicative dimension of social processes in diverse settings and areas.
- Develop in students the skills of analysis and representation, quantitatively and qualitatively, of the variations of communicative processes and phenomena in different scenarios and areas.
- Train students capable of selecting, adapting and using appropriately and effectively instruments and techniques for the analysis and diagnosis of communication problems.
- To train students who are conceptually and methodologically trained to elaborate precise communicative analysis-diagnosis, particularly in the most relevant problem-areas in the northwestern region of the Mexican Republic.
- Develop in students the ability to develop communicative intervention plans, consistent with the diagnosis in different problem areas.
- Train students capable of intervention and efficient, systematic, responsible and ethical production in the solution of communicative problems in different problem areas.
- Train students capable of evaluating (based on precise theoretical, methodological and ethical criteria) the relevance, effectiveness and scope of the results of the communicative intervention.
- Develop in students the ability to develop research projects and reports in different areas of the professional intervention of the Communicator.

Admission Requirements
The general requirements to enter a degree program at the University of Sonora are as follows:
- Request registration with the Directorate of School Services in accordance with the terms of the respective call.
- Submit a full certificate of high school studies.
- Submit a certified birth certificate.
- Submit entrance exam and be accepted according to the terms of the respective call.
- The others that are established in accordance with article 22 of the current School Regulations.
