The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Academic Program, in accordance with the Institutional Educational Mission of the Universidad del Valle, has as its mission “to provide higher education through the generation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of philosophy, with autonomy and a commitment to social service,” and as its vision “the consolidation of a program of excellence with an international reach and high-quality research.”
Students, as part of a flexible curriculum with a transdisciplinary approach, deepen their expertise in their chosen philosophical field through their work with research groups, participation in academic seminars (both thematic and research-based), and interaction with faculty members in the Department. Students are expected, during their doctoral studies, to publish preliminary research findings, participate in national and international academic events, complete internships, and take advantage of the dual-degree agreements established with the universities of Paris 8 and Poitiers (France), or with other universities.
