The proposal for the Doctoral Program in Urban and Territorial Management (DGUT) identifies and values contributions from different disciplines in pursuit of interdisciplinary perspectives for understanding and taking action regarding the planning of urban and territorial space. It promotes collaboration and complementarity among different disciplines to understand and solve territorial problems through the participation of faculty members from different schools and research groups at the Universidad del Valle.
Furthermore, it encourages the incorporation of non-disciplinary knowledge and wisdom; this wisdom, which transcends the boundaries of academia and emerges from residents, social organizations, communities, and citizens in general, has the ability to convey knowledge created through the everyday experience of living and existing within the territory—a perspective that is essential for understanding the territory as a social construct.
