General objective:

Train a professional capable of diagnosing, investigating, designing, intervening and evaluating individual and collective training processes in various contexts under the principles of promoting human development as a transformation strategy aimed at the social progress of communities.

Specific objectives:

That the student is able to:

  • Identify the diversity of human development in different educational contexts, through the analysis of the elements of the training process, in order to recognize the need for an interdisciplinary study of the educational phenomenon given its complexity.
  • Carry out diagnoses on diversity and human equality and equal opportunities based on the study of educational problems, in order to reflect on the practices of formation of identities, meanings and meanings that occur in the field of education.
  • Establish the relevance of inclusive training strategies through the formulation of educational interventions based on diagnosis of opportunities, in order to promote various forms of interactivity and social coexistence among the actors in the training process.
  • Carry out educational interventions through the design of sustainable training projects, in order to promote the treatment of relevant training content in the framework of the knowledge society and globalization.
  • Evaluate educational interventions through the formulation of evaluation systems, in order to assess the orientation capacity of a citizen training project and its achievement of objectives.
  • Implement educational interventions at the group level based on a basic diagnosis for its design in order to evaluate its relevance in an educational project.

At undergraduate level, the Mexican Universidad de Sonora (UNISON) offers 55 bachelor’s degrees, including:

Admissions and costs

Undergraduate entry requirements include a high school diploma, a filled in application form, passing the admissions tests and proof of your proficiency in English. Keep in mind, you’ll also need a passport, student visa and health insurance to enter the country.

Tuition fees at undergraduate level include a MX$1,860 enrollment fee (≈US$89) and tuition is based on the number of courses a student takes per semester and their average grade from their previous semester, starting at MX$1,520 (≈US$72) per course. Depending on your grades, though, you may be eligible for a tuition fee reduction of up to 100%.

The cost of living in Hermosillo, where the university is situated, should be no more than US$700 a month, including accommodation, groceries, and transportation, though of course this figure can vary depending on the type of the accommodation you seek (whether a hotel or flatshare).

Costs, scholarships and admissions

To be eligible for postgraduate study, you would need a bachelor's degree, a GPA of 8.0, proof of your proficiency in Spanish and English (with a TOEFL score of 450), the GRE subject test (depending on the course), two letters of recommendation, a personal statement and a research proposal (only for PhDs).

UNISON offers all students with an average grade of somewhere between 80 and 85 a tuition fee reduction of 50% in their second semester.  This figure can rise up to 100% depending on their grade.

Students can also apply for a CONACYT scholarship for a monthly stipend of approximately MX$13,769 (≈US$770), provided they have a GPA of 8.0.
