Department of Environmental Sciences

            Statistics department of is one of the scientific departments at the faculty of sciences, Alasmarya university. It was established in 2020/2021. It offers a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences. The program has 136 teaching units which are divided over 52 courses. Students are required to complete at least 8 semesters to graduate. 03 students graduated from this program over 01 batches.

About the Program

            The Department of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, Zliten - seeks to achieve excellency in the field of academic education and scientific research nationally, regionally and internationally levels in a climate characterized by independence, freedom, democracy and equality in a way that contributes to serving society and achieving sustainable development.

            Many students in various academic years are registered in this department. The department, like other departments, receives students who have obtained an educational qualification from specialized secondary school graduates or from high school holders in the scientific section.

            The Department of Environmental Sciences offers an integrated educational program that targets everything related to environmental sciences and its relationship with other sciences in all fields. So, the graduates become familiar with all aspects related to environmental pollutants whether it is the environment, air, water, or soil, as well as food pollution and ways to combat it due to its importance in our lives. The integrated program utilized by the Department of Environmental Sciences also presents ideas that aim to overcome problems, resulting from environmental pollutants.

              Furthermore, The Department of Environmental Sciences contributes to getting the extent benefit from this integrated program for various areas, including: medical, industrial and environmental fields in a way that benefits society and the environment.

Goals of the Program

            The Department of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, Zliten aims to achieve a considerable goal. It aims to Prepare specialists in environmental sciences who are qualified with theoretical foundations and application methodologies to enable them to contribute effectively to the development of techniques and fields of environmental sciences. In addition, it works progressively in conducting scientific and applied studies and currying research in the field of environmental sciences that have a direct impact on integrated development in society.

            This department also goals for cooperative participating with specialized bodies to pay attention to the sustainability of environmental systems in the State of Libya.

            Shedding light on its aim in developing the academic scientific research, the Department of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, Zliten goals to organize seminars and holds scientific conferences with the aim of deepening concepts and raising the scientific level among specialized cadres. As a result, it Strengthens the means of publishing and scientific research in various fields of specialization.

            As a graduate student with a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, you can obtain prestigious jobs in a field that is expanding very quickly in the job market, most notably:

·          Working in the environmental sanitation offices of the Ministry of Local Government and Municipalities.

·          Working in the Ministry of Environment and its environmental controls.

·          Working as an environmental inspector at airports, ports and government ports.

·          Working in consulting offices and companies in the fields of environmental assessment and environmental services.

·          Working in the environmental departments and departments of public and private sector companies and their affiliated factories, such as the National Oil Corporation and its subsidiaries, cement and electricity companies, iron factories...etc.

·          Working in hospitals, relevant ministries, or even in construction companies.

·          Working in the fields of land surveys, water resources regulation, and health and safety companies.
