The D epartment of Sharia , Faculty of Sharia and Law , Alasmarya Islamic University offers a Masters in Comparative Jur isprud ence . The program has 39 units and 10 courses ( 8 core courses and two electives -out of four) , and requires a minimum of 3 sem esters of study for graduation. Eight batches of students have been enrolle d in the program and there are 3 0 graduates .  

This is one of the post-graduate programs in the department of Sh aria. It was established in 200 6 under decree No. 02. The program vision includes achieving leadership and excellence in Islamic s ciences in general and in comparative jurisprudence in particular, at the domestic and reg ional levels. The program m ission encompasses the department’s efforts to create the best scientific environment maintaining the highest standards of academic quality in order to build competent researchers and professional in the major. The program also seeks to make the connection between scientific achievements and contemporary needs through professionals who make tradition and modernity meet .    

The program goals can be summarized as follows: First, preparing highly qualified academics specializing in comparative jurisprudence studies and Islamic consultation to fill positions in academic institutions and meet the society needs through making the link between theory and application. Second, promoting and implanting Islamic concepts and values in the society combining originality and modernity. Third, enriching the scientific re pository through original research in order to provide scientific and legitimate solutions for emerging issues and developments in various areas. Fourth, enabling outstanding students to further their studies locally . Fifth, strengthening connections and scientific cooperation among Sharia’s departments and colleges.    

Graduates can pursue jobs in a number of areas. For example, they can take positions in higher education institutes and universities. In addition, graduates can take positions in organizations concerned with organizing the society, religious guidance and calling to Allah; for example, Fatwa Council and Ministry of Religious Endowments . Graduates can also pursue job opportunities in financial supervision in Islamic financial institutions and banks. Graduates can also seek positions in community services like dispute resolution and Sharia-based arbitration.
