The Department of Physics at the Faculty of sciences, Alasmarya
Islamic University offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics. It
was established in 1988. The program has 142 units which are divided over 52
courses. Students are required to complete at least 8 semesters to graduate. 460
students graduated from this program up to this year over 28 graduating batches.
About the Program
This program is
considered one of the educational programs in the Faculty of Science at Alasmarya
University. It includes a group of well-qualified professors and lecturers who
are specialized in the field of physics with Master and PhD’s qualifications.
The department includes a large number of students in two divisions (general
physics - medical physics). This department offers an integrated educational
program that targets everything related to physics, each according to its
specialty and its relationship with humans in terms of treatment, diagnosis,
and the environment in all fields. So, it allows graduates to become familiar
with all aspects related to physics and its importance in our lives. It also
help graduated students to be able to present ideas that aim to graduate cadres
and researchers in physics in various medical, industrial, and environmental
fields in a way that benefits society and the environment.
Goals of the Program
This program helps
students to develop themselves and acquire cognitive, technical and general
skills in the most recent fields of physics to form a solid foundation.
Achieving this goal, the program will
enable students to be able to carry out their research work in any field of
physics in a correct manner that updates to the rapid scientific development.
The program has
also a further integrating features more than focusing only on enhancing
students’ learning goals. It provides advanced laboratory tools and equipment
in the field of physics so that students will acquire practical skills that
will help them in completing their research and providing students with
valuable scientific resources and enabling them to benefit from them to the
fullest extent possible.
It teaches
students to acquire the skills of leading a collaborative competition with
other students in the department. The program encourages students to apply the
skills to search for knowledge and currying on scientific research. More
important, it inspires students to persevere and constantly discuss, and not
hesitate to ask scientific questions and/or inquiries that are on their minds
to their professors in order to absorb the greatest possible amount of scientific
knowledge which in turn which enhances their learning efficiency. Furthermore,
the program helps students put their ability on use for the purpose of
integrating scientific research in the field of microbiology. In addition, it
motivates students to be creative, innovational and establish a constant desire
for the purpose of achieving the best.
Collaboratively,
the program encourages teamwork in the department by preparing joint scientific
research. Integrating this concept, it attempts to link the department in the
future with the rest of the corresponding scientific departments in all
universities inside and outside Libya in order to exchange experiences and
unify efforts. It also encourages students to attend scientific conferences and
forums related to physics and medical physics, in order to follow the renewed
scientific development in their field of specialization and benefit from the
experiences of others.
An Overview of the Professional Fields of Program for Graduates
Graduate students from Department of Physics
can work in many fields of great importance to society and the state, including
scientific research centers and nuclear and industrial research centers.
Likewise, graduate students of Department of Medical Physics can work in health
centers and medical laboratories for radiation imaging, which assist in medical
diagnosis, and the graduate may continue his studies. Students in this
department can graduate and become a faculty member at the university. They can
work in the medical field as a specialized laboratory technician
