The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, A la smarya Islamic University offers a bachelor in Communications Engineering. The program has 151 units and 59 courses, and requires a minimum of 10 semesters of study for graduation. Six batches of students have been enrolled in the program up to this year.

The Communications Engineering Program was established in 2014. The study of Communications Engineering is an indispensable field in modern education because of its close connection to development in industrial fields and aspects of modern life. The importance of this field is reflected in the steady development it is witnessing in all its aspects and areas of application. This educational program aims to graduate skilled engineering competencies who hold a bachelor’s degree. Graduates are capable of working and competing in the labor market, as well as participating in research and development in the fields of communications engineering.

The program goals can be summarized as follows: First, providing specialized engineering cadres in the field of communications engineering. Second, teaching and training students the principles and methods of communications engineering, including the mathematics and sciences necessary to design, analyze and study communications systems. Third, training students to use modern laboratory equipment and software to conduct and simulate experiments in order to collect data and test theories. Fourth, train students to develop effective verbal and written communication skills and to work within a team. Fifth, graduating qualified engineers capable of keeping pace with contemporary developments and working in industrial and technical fields, research centers and community service, and pursuing postgraduate studies. Sixth, conducting scientific research in order to disseminate knowledge in various engineering and scientific fields and in order to find engineering solutions to problems faced by the public and private sectors. Seventh, enhancing the capabilities of the teaching staff through visits, loans, participation in scientific conferences, and developing regional and international cooperation with prestigious universities around the world. Eighth, deepening graduates’ understanding of professional responsibilities and ethics as well as their need to be lifelong learners.

Graduates can pursue jobs in a number of areas. These include telecommunications and internet companies; oil, electricity and renewable energy companies; scientific and research laboratories; all types of factories; and service and public sectors. Graduates can also start private companies and workshops.
