Department of Education for Special Needs


The scientific department at the Faculty of social sciences and humanities, Alasmarya Islamic University offers a License Degree in Education for Special Needs. It was established in 2015 due to the chancellor’s decision, No. 35/2015. The program has 137 units which are divided over 54 courses. Students are required to complete at least 8 semesters to graduate. 230 students graduated from this program up to this year.

            Community service program involves an enhancing contribution on the part of the teaching staffs in this department to the community through a process of giving lectures and holding conferences, seminars and educational discussions about the related issues for the purpose of educating public regarding the special educational, social, family and psychological needs for this class. It also seeks to develop specialized knowledge in special-need educational domain. Seeking this purpose, this department helps students to convoy up-to-date contemporaries in different branches of especial need services required for the target population as well as the whole community in general.  

            Education for Special Needs Department aims to prepare students for academic and scientific research in this field. More important, it helps students to be able to provide practical and educational consultations for all disabled individuals and their families. Achieving this goal, this department contributes effectively in increasing a wide spread of social awareness about various types of disabilities in deferent life domains. Further, it consequently increases the society members’ awareness towards the possible strategies that could help in decreasing the sources of being handicapped person in the entire community. Counting for more educational objectives, Education for Special Needs program contributes efficiently in developing syllabuses and teaching methods in this domain in order to meet the needs of the community and achieve the most effective learning outcomes.  

 

            After-graduation Career is one of the central goals for Education for Special Needs Department. This department provides a variety of job opportunities for students after graduate. They can open a private center to help rehabilitation people with a especial needs. Students can also work as trainers or as consultants in educational and learning sector. One more option, students who will graduate from Education for Special Needs department can start their future career as teachers in one of that schools that involve disabled students.
