Computer sciences department is one
of the scientific departments at the faculty of Sciences, Alasmarya university.
It was established in 1991. It offers a Bachelor Degree in computer sciences.
The program has 137 teaching units which are divided over 47 courses. Students
are required to complete at least 8 semesters to graduate. A considerable number
of students graduated from tis department up to this year over 23 batches.
About the Program
The Bachelor of
Computer Science program is one of the scientific programs in the faculty of
Science. The implementation of the program had begun in the academic year
1991/1992 AD, then had stopped in the academic year 1997/1998 AD. The study in
the department have resumed again in the academic year 2000/2001 AD. The
semester system was adopted in the academic year 2012/2013 AD, utilizing this
system, the academic year was divided into two semesters: the fall semester and
the spring semester. This division was adopted based on a scientific program,
including 34 compulsory courses, 2 elective courses, 4 supporting courses, and
5 general courses. After the students passes the aforementioned courses, they will
be awarded a bachelor's degree in mathematics
Program Objectives:
The department aims to achieve the following objectives:
1- To prepare specialists in computer science who are qualified
with theoretical foundations and application methodologies, enabling them to
contribute effectively to the development of computer science technologies and
fields.
2- To conduct scientific and applied studies and research in the
field of computer science that have a direct impact on integrated development
in society.
3- to increase the level of awareness of the use of computer
science technologies applications in state sectors and institutions, raising
the efficiency of their use through specialized training courses.
4- To participate with specialized agencies to develop software for
various systems and applications.
5- Organizing seminars and holding scientific conferences with the
aim of deepening concepts and raising the scientific level among specialized
cadres.
6- Strengthening the means of scientific research and publishing in
various fields of specialization.

society, the graduate students from this department have the opportunity to
work or be employed in most fields, including, but not limited to, general
education at its various stages. Thus, they contribute to providing modern
knowledge to keep pace with developments in this field, banking, insurance,
etc. by working on various systems, public and private companies, airline
ticket reservation offices, tourist offices, exchange offices and money
transfers. They can also work in clinics, hospitals and medical companies that
implies using modern medical equipment or official technical use. In addition, the
graduate students from this department have the opportunity to work or be
employed in the field of advertising as well as engineering design of projects.
