The program has 151 units and 58 courses, and a minimum of 10 semesters of study are required for graduation. Six batches of students have been enrolled in the program up to this year.

The control engineering program was established in 2014 to meet the needs of the Libyan society. The study of control engineering is regarded as one of the most important areas of modern education due to its close connection to development in industrial fields and aspects of modern life; and the steady development it is witnessing in all its aspects and uses is evidence of its importance and necessity. This educational program aims at graduating skilled engineering competencies who hold a bachelor’s degree, able to work and compete in the labor market, as well as participate in research and development in the fields of control engineering.

The program goals can be summarized as follows: First, providing specialized engineering cadres in the field of control engineering. Second, teaching and training students the principles and methods of control engineering, including the mathematics and sciences necessary to design, analyze and study various control systems. Third, training students to use modern laboratory equipment and software to conduct and simulate experiments in order to collect data and test theories. Fourth, training students to develop effective verbal and written communication skills and to work within a team. Fifth, graduating qualified engineers capable of keeping pace with contemporary developments and working in industrial and technical fields, research centers and community service, and also able to pursue postgraduate studies. Sixth, conducting scientific research in order to disseminate knowledge in various engineering and scientific fields and in order to find engineering solutions to problems faced by the public and private sectors.
