The Faculty of Health Sciences at Alasmarya Islamic University introduces the Bachelor of Therapeutic Nutrition program, established in the spring of 2023. Comprising 138 units and 54 courses, the program requires a minimum of five years for graduation, aiming to prepare highly qualified graduates in therapeutic nutrition. The creation of the Department of Therapeutic Nutrition was officially sanctioned by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Resolution No. 1466 of 2022) and the President of Alasmarya Islamic University (Resolution No. 211 of 2023). This initiative aligns with the adoption of the study guide for health sciences faculties in Libyan universities.

The department's fundamental mission is to cultivate a cadre of clinical nutrition specialists who can address the nutritional needs of individuals and society, contributing to the enhancement of overall nutritional status and the resolution of health-related problems. The inaugural batch of students was admitted for the spring semester of 2023, marking the commencement of the Bachelor's Program in Therapeutic Nutrition. The department aspires to prepare students to deliver nutritional care, achieve optimal health outcomes, engage in research and scientific activities, and become a reference in the field of therapeutic nutrition at local, regional, and global levels.

The program delineates specific goals to shape graduates into qualified Therapeutic Nutrition specialists with robust knowledge and skills. Emphasis is placed on developing leadership skills, fostering effective communication, and instilling the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams. Practical and research experiences are integral components, equipping students to address diverse nutritional challenges. The program also seeks to instill a commitment to lifelong learning and self-evaluation, encouraging students to engage in conferences, workshops, and scientific research activities related to therapeutic nutrition.

 

After completion of the program, graduates find diverse employment opportunities across various sectors. Therapeutic nutrition specialists are sought after in hospitals, primary healthcare facilities, medical centers, and health clinics. They also play pivotal roles in food and nutritional supplement manufacturing companies, food processing and preparation establishments, educational institutions, research centers, media centers, and social welfare organizations, contributing to both the public and private sectors. The program's multifaceted approach ensures graduates are well-prepared to make impactful contributions in the dynamic field of clinical nutrition.
