The Faculty of Arts, Department of Media, was established in 2001. It offers an educational program in radio and television which was founded in 2012. The program consists of 132 units with 56 courses. It takes a minimum of 8 semesters to graduate. There have been 8 batches so far.
The importance of the Department of Media and the Radio and Television program lies in its commitment to graduating distinguished materials and competent personnel in the fields of audio and visual broadcasting. They are capable of practicing media work and are academically and professionally qualified to meet the needs of the job market and the requirements of local and global competition. Additionally, they are prepared to pursue higher studies, while also raising their level of commitment to social, professional, and ethical responsibility towards the nation and societal issues. Furthermore, the department pays attention to modern electronic programs such as podcasts, which have emerged in the realm of radio.
The program aims to achieve several objectives. Firstly, it focuses on developing specialized media personalities who possess the necessary skills and knowledge in the field. Secondly, it strives to enhance media skills that enable effective communication and engagement with various segments of society. Additionally, the program seeks to enrich local institutions by equipping them with public relations experts who have a fresh perspective and the ability to provide innovative content. Moreover, students in the program are equipped with the skills to engage in marketing activities for diverse organizations. They also learn to master both auditory and visual radio presentation skills. Furthermore, the program emphasizes the development of strong planning abilities for executing successful media campaigns. Students are also trained in utilizing the art of radio and electronic advertising. Lastly, the program aims to contribute to the development of radio program landscapes through collaborations with universities and private institutions. These objectives collectively create a comprehensive and dynamic educational experience in the field of media and broadcasting.
Graduates of the program have various professional opportunities in different employment sectors. This field is characterized by its diverse and evolving skills. While the work may initially be focused on audio and visual radio channels, specialized graduates have numerous job prospects. At the municipal level, local radio stations are still actively seeking professionals with skills in radio direction, program hosting, production, and execution, as well as program presenters, news editors, and report writers. On the international and regional level, satellite channels require correspondents and photographers to keep up with and cover various events and incidents. Graduates of the program are well-equipped to pursue careers in these areas, utilizing their versatile and up-to-date skill sets.
