The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Education, Alasmarya Islamic University was established in 1998 and offers educational program (bachelor's) in Chemistry. The program has 154 credits, 70 courses, and a minimum of 7 semesters of study for graduation, 273 students graduated, and 22 batches of students have been enrolled in the program up to this year.

The Department of Chemistry prepares cadres for society to meet the requirements of the labor market as well as to prepare a teacher to be skilled for teaching students in the basic and secondary education stages. In addition, it encourages and develops scientific research skills in the fields of chemistry sciences, and to provide the graduates with sufficient information that qualifies them to complete their studies in chemistry and teaching methods.

This program aims to inform the student of the importance of chemistry, and prepares them as future educational teachers. Also, prepares them to be able to use modern teaching methods, employ them optimal recruitment to achieve the desired goals in order to meet the need of schools of chemistry teachers, and cooperate with pending educational institutions to develop the department's educational programs locally and internationally.

Graduates of the program can work in several areas and provide great services to society. Besides to their abilities to teach professionally in basic and secondary education schools, they can work in the field of factories of all kinds containing laboratories to examine the concentrations of materials, the manufacture of solutions, and others. They can also work in laboratories that are in hospitals or those that are in universities, environmental sanitation laboratories, as well as in scientific research and essay writing.
