The Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Alasmarya Islamic University offers a bachelor in Chemical Engineering. The program has 158 units and 56 courses, and requires a minimum of 10 semesters of study for graduation. Eight batches of students have been enrolled in the program up to this year.The field of chemical engineering is essential for economic and industrial development. It links science and industry and is concerned with the design and development of chemical manufacturing processes and factory management. The Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering was established in 2014 to meet the country's growing needs for chemical engineers and contribute to the country’s overall development. The department aims at enhancing the scientific and technical capabilities of graduates and meeting the needs of various industries such as petrochemicals, oil, food, cement, and water desalination.
The program goals include developing students’ academic and research skills in order to keep pace with developments in the field. In addition, the program aims at achieving self-reliance in the field of process engineering to operate industrial units. Another goal is preparing graduates to conduct scientific research in order to find scientific solutions to technical problems and spreading engineering culture, teamwork, as well as providing consultations in the field.
Graduate have various options in the job market. To name a few, opportunities are available in oil refineries, petrochemicals and plastics factories, food industry, cement and iron industries, and electric power generation stations.
