Program is aimed at training the highly qualified specialists capable of independent scientific and practical activities in the field of studying, analyzing and forecasting seismic processes. Program combines fundamental knowledge, modern methods of geophysics and engineering seismology, as well as practical skills necessary to solve problems in the field of seismic hazard assessment, modeling processes in the Earth's crust and reducing the risks associated with earthquakes.

Doctoral students study a wide range of disciplines covering seismic and geophysical methods for monitoring, forecasting and modeling earthquakes, as well as engineering and seismological approaches aimed at studying wave processes in foci, the interaction of seismic waves with infrastructure, and the analysis of seismic stability of territories and structures. Special attention is paid to the study of earthquake foci, displacements of lithospheric blocks, precursors of seismic events, assessment of anthropogenic impact on seismicity and elaborating the long-term, medium-term and short-term forecasts.

In the course of their studies, students master the stages and methods of conducting the seismic and geophysical research, acquire skills in processing, interpreting and mathematically modeling data, which allows them to develop rational earthquake monitoring and prediction systems. The educational process integrates real-world physical-geological information, the use of automated systems and international approaches to seismic safety.

Program is carried out with the participation of leading scientists and industry experts, with access to research bases and geophysical stations. Doctoral students participate in applied projects on seismic zoning, risk assessment and sustainability of infrastructure, as well as in interdisciplinary research related to earthquake impact on the atmosphere and hydrosphere.

Graduates of the program are in demand in scientific institutes, geophysical and seismological centers, engineering, survey and construction companies, civil defense and environmental safety structures. They are able to manage research projects, develop their own research areas, and contribute to advancing the applied seismology both nationally and internationally.
