Doctoral students study design, elaboration and implementation of innovative technologies for developing solid mineral deposits. Much attention is paid to intellectual entrepreneurship, development of applied projects for the real economy and the launched projects’ commercialization.
Doctoral students are actively involved in research projects under foreign consultants’ guidance. Plans for doctoral studies include mandatory internship at leading foreign universities. Two scientific advisors, a national and a foreign one, supervise dissertation work and its defense.
Doctoral students undergo research, teaching and research practice at “Kazgorproekt”, “Kazakhaltyn”, “Kazphosphate”, “Metrokurylys”, Interrin, “Kazakhmys”, “Kazchrome”, “Kazzinc”, “KazMinerals”, “Altyntau enterprises Resources”, “Kazakhvzryvprom”, RK National Center for Complex Processing Mineral Raw Materials, Kunayev Mining Institute.
Doctoral students undergo internships at Technical University of Freiberg Mining Academy (Germany), Colorado Mining School (USA), Moscow State Mining University, St. Petersburg Mining University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Beijing Mining and Technology University (China), Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys.
Graduates work at primary engineering and technical positions in the field of natural resource extraction - at enterprises of mining and fuel-energy complexes, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, and non-metallic mining raw materials production, at branch research-design institutes, in educational institutions’ laboratories.
Graduates work at engineering, engineering and management positions in mining and metallurgical sector, as teachers, researchers at exploratory centers, universities, national and private companies, and other organizations conducting research, design and educational activities in various economy sectors. The demand of employers for mining specialists is growing.
