Program is aimed at training the specialists in the field of mineral processing who are able to develop and implement innovative, resource-saving and environmentally friendly technologies that comply with sustainable development principles.
Program highlights the study of effective technologies for processing mineral raw materials with an emphasis on sustainable development and environmentally sound solutions, applies a practice-oriented approach with the participation of leading specialists and basic enterprises of the industry, and also provides ample opportunities for international internships and participation in academic mobility programs.
During their studies, undergraduates master the methods of gravity, flotation and hydrometallurgical enrichment, study technological schemes for preparation and pre-concentration of ores, taking into account their mineral composition, master the skills of modeling and optimizing technological processes due to digital tools and automated control systems. Particular attention is paid to the processing of man-made raw materials, quality control, infrastructure design of processing plants, as well as industrial and environmental safety issues.
Students undergo practical training at leading enterprises of the industry, such as “Kazakhmys”, “KazMinerals”, “Kazzinc”, “Kazatomprom”, “Altynalmas”, where they gain practical experience under the guidance of specialists. Program provides international internships and academic mobility at partner universities, including Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Colorado School of Mines (USA), Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University of Aachen (Germany), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and others.
Graduates of the program are in demand in mining and metallurgical companies, engineering and research centers, as well as in projects related to the sustainable development and digital transformation of processing plants.
