The program is preparing new research scientists and leaders in the oil and gas industry. Research focuses on efficient drilling, production, development, transportation and management of hydrocarbon resources.
Doctoral students get knowledge of 3D-geological and hydrodynamic modeling, modeling of oil and gas fields in complicated conditions, design of development of oil, oil and gas condensate fields, as well as hard-to-recover reserves. Education is based on modern computer programs Micromine, Petrel, Eclipse, Gocad, Surfer, Geosoft, Studio 3.
Much attention is paid to intellectual entrepreneurship, the development of applied projects for the real economy and the commercialization of neglected projects.
Doctoral students are actively involved in research projects under the guidance of foreign consultants. Plans for doctoral studies include the mandatory internship at leading foreign universities. The preparation and defense of the thesis carried out under the guidance of two scientific leaders, domestic and foreign.
Doctoral students pass their scientific internships at the Colorado School of Mines (USA), Freie University (Germany), Tomsk Polytechnic University (Russia), Moscow State University after M.V. Lomonosov (RF), Lorraine University (France), Institute of Mining Engineering and Technology (China).
Doctoral students undergo internships in the best domestic and international companies, including Schlumberger, Chevron, KazMunaiGas, Rosneft, Lukoil, Eni, CNPC, ExxonMobil, Total, Royal Dutch Shell, Maersk Oil. Some graduates work and get experience in international locations from the UAE to the North Sea.
Graduates work in the field of mining and services for mining companies, research and consulting, as well as teachers, researchers in research centers, universities, national and private companies and other organizations conducting research, design and educational activities in various sectors of the economy.
