Upon successful completion of all the requirements, graduates receive an academic master’s degree in engineering and technology after 1.5 years of study or an academic master’s degree in technical sciences after 2 years of study.
As part of preparing themselves for a professional activity, students learn high-level programming and programming of microcontrollers; methods of mathematical modeling and optimal control; contemporary methods and means of development and creation of automation systems, robotics, artificial intelligence and control, etc.
The program is focused on studying modern software products and methods for a synthesis of automated and robotic control systems, all for the implementation of the industrial revolution 4.0. In particular, besides knowledge of classical methods and their application for creating automation and robotic systems, the programs also requires to learn methods for building intelligent control systems. In addition, emphasis is placed on the automation of technological design – computer-aided automation design (CAD) systems and automation systems of technological preparation of production, which are widely covered.
Educational laboratories of Satbayev University for studying technical aspects of automation and robotics are generously equipped with instruments and devices from the widely known leading brands such as Siemens, Festa, Fisher-Rosemount, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, etc. The Department of Automation and Control actively cooperates with the aeronautical company Honeywell (USA), Schneider Electric (France), University of Florence (Italy), Technological University of Slovakia, State University of New York (Binghamton, USA) and others.
Master students must complete professional, research and research-and-teaching internships. The program has an option for students to take a semester abroad within academic mobility. In the course of studying the department provides for internship placements at the following industrial entities: Verbulak, Siemens-Kazakhstan, Automated Process Control System – Honeywell, NAT Kazakhstan, Kazatomprom, Kazzinc, Kazphosphate MU, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, as well as internships at Lublin Technical University (Poland) and St. Petersburg State Technical University (Russia).
The program’s graduates have all necessary knowledge and skills set to effectively contribute in construction and mechanical engineering, chemical, mining, oil & gas, and metallurgical industries. They work as leading specialists in development, operation, maintenance, repair and adjustment of equipment for automated control systems and robotized production processes.
