The program for Ph.D. in the Seismology area provides:

training of highly qualified specialists in the sphere of seismic-geophysical methods for assessing seismic hazard, risk and earthquake forecasting; obtaining high-quality and professional knowledge on prediction the places of occurrence, strength, and repeatability of earthquakes;
the formation of knowledge in the required volume for studying the foci of earthquakes, displacements of Earth blocks and other transformations of the environment in the foci, conducting detailed studies of earthquake preparation processes in a real physical and geological environment, performing focal zone estimates, identifying earthquake precursors, and developing a long-term, medium-term, and short-term earthquake forecast, seismicity process control methods, assessment of anthropogenic (technogenic) impact on seismicity;
qualified solution of engineering-seismological problems, which consists in studying the seismic field caused by an earthquake near the source, studying the strong seismic movements of the earth’s surface and the interaction of the soil with the structure, developing methods and conducting seismic micro-zoning, and determining the impact of earthquakes on the Earth’s hydrosphere and atmosphere;
obtaining by doctoral students high-quality and professional knowledge by stages and rational set of seismic and geophysical research, processing, interpretation, and modeling.

Professors from leading universities of near and far abroad, leading experts from companies and research institutes are invited to provide lectures and consultations on modern problems of seismology and geophysics,

Graduates receive a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) qualification and have the opportunity to work at the Institute of Seismology and SEME of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in government of the region and cities, in the departments of emergency situations and emergency situations in leading positions, in research institutes in the positions of leading and main researchers, as managers of laboratories and departments.
