The Doctorate program in Public Policies and Development is based on two great needs:

1) The wide demand, present and future, in the Higher Education Institutions (IES) of Mexico for human resources with a doctorate degree to incorporate them as Full Time Professors (PTC).

2) The reduction of inequalities in development since approximately half of the Mexican population is in a situation of poverty. Likewise, there are evident regional gaps observable through the disparities in the quality of life of Mexicans despite belonging to the twenty largest economies in the world.

From this perspective, poverty and inequality have prompted the Mexican State to intervene, for at least two decades, establishing public policies that aim to reduce poverty, improve living conditions and close the inequality gaps between regions. Therefore, it is crucial to train specialists who form a critical mass to systematically analyze the relationship between public policies and their contribution to the country's economic development.
