The postgraduate program in socio-medical sciences, which integrates the master's and doctoral levels, arises from the need to establish a bridge between health sciences and social sciences, fostering scientific and humanistic development in the area of health with a social focus.
It offers a space for critical and constructive discussion on topics related to the theory and practice of sociomedicine.
In this case, the aim is to train: Doctors in sociomedicine to work as independent researchers, capable of increasing and developing original and useful knowledge in sociomedicine, here and now, as well as structuring and leading research groups.
These objectives allow access to our doctoral program for postgraduate teachers with social science backgrounds related to social medicine. These teachers aim to develop a social perspective in their daily work within the public, social, and private sectors, fostering change that makes health and services accessible in a culturally sensitive and socially responsible manner.
The postgraduate program is developed sequentially in a classroom setting over four semesters to complete the doctorate. The first half focuses on refining and enriching the theoretical and practical foundations of the research work to be carried out, while the second half is dedicated to individual and collaborative work on completing the dissertation, obtaining the degree, and producing two publications stemming from it. Mobility adjustments may be made at the discretion of the Academic Committee.
The postgraduate sequence requires us to complete full master's and doctoral cycles in order to begin another.
Regarding costs, in addition to the registration fees according to the university tariff, at the Doctoral Master level, 6 minimum monthly wages are contributed each semester.
It should be noted that the postgraduate program currently does not offer scholarships, so all expenses are the responsibility of the interested party.

Admission Requirements
- Hold a Master's degree in related Sciences (Health, Biological and Social) and an average grade above 80
- Demonstrate prior experience in operational, teaching, outreach, or research areas.
- Demonstrate knowledge and positive attitudes towards research and teaching in sociomedicine
- Demonstrate reading and comprehension of a second language at an official institution
- Demonstrate skills in the use of computer equipment and information and communication technologies.
- Written commitment to dedicate time to and pay fees for the doctoral program
- Letter of motivation from the applicant and 2 academic recommendations, taking responsibility for follow-up.
- Submit proof of passing the CENEVAL exam in Sociomedical Sciences
- Submit a preliminary research proposal in accordance with the postgraduate program's guidelines* (worth 30 points)
- Curriculum vitae, accompanied by a copy of your best academic work or professional achievement.
- Those additional requirements established by the corresponding university regulations for both Mexican and foreign applicants
- Candidates are required to submit references or letter(s) of recommendation for acceptance
- Candidates are required to submit an essay(s) for acceptance
