The Master of Science in Optics and Photonics is an interdisciplinary program designed to train highly qualified professionals capable of integrating knowledge and concepts from mathematics, physics, computer science, intelligent systems, and electronic engineering. The proposed program offers interdisciplinary training because the faculty specializes in various areas of optics and photonics, including both classical and quantum perspectives. Specifically, they have expertise in areas such as optical fibers, image processing, interferometry, signal processing, and optical materials processing, among others. Ninety percent of the faculty members belong to the National System of Researchers (SNI), ensuring a program with strong potential to guide students toward research. At the same time, the faculty also includes professors with experience in technological development, guaranteeing the development of applications and solutions to real-world problems with significant social impact.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the Master of Science in Optics and Photonics, in addition to those established in the General Regulations for Student Admission of the University of Guadalajara, are as follows:

a. A bachelor's degree or graduation certificate in an area related to the postgraduate program, as determined by the Academic Board;
b. Satisfactorily fulfill the selection requirements designated by the Academic Board in accordance with Articles 50 to 52 of the General Postgraduate Regulations, which will be published in the respective call for applications; and
c. Demonstrate knowledge of the English language at least at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​or its equivalent.


At the end of this process, the best candidates will be selected for admission, according to the criteria published in the respective call for applications.

For the purposes of admission procedures and immigration status (in the case of foreign applicants), based on the results of the admission process, the Master's Program Academic Board will issue pre-acceptance letters to those applicants who, having met all the admission requirements established by the Academic Board, have obtained the highest overall scores.

Official admission of applicants will be determined by the General Coordination of Academic Control of the University of Guadalajara, through the corresponding report, based on the documents submitted by the University Center for Exact Sciences and Engineering.
