In a general approach to the problems of cities, increasingly emphasized in the area of urban mobility and transport, the need to conduct studies on their development, their creative possibilities, renewal of infrastructure, equipment, materials and technical capabilities, as well as the methods and technologies that can be relied upon in each of their variants, is highlighted.
It is in large cities where poverty is most evident and where the majority of the population demands that the media, individuals, and institutions embrace the advances of science and technology. This is essential to enrich their awareness and understanding of reality, thereby providing greater certainty in the development of the city. Addressing urban problems and the persistent inability to find solutions regarding mobility, transportation, and their relationship to the elements that structure the city—neighborhoods, housing, and public and private spaces—is indispensable.
The complexity of urban mobility and the transportation of people and goods, as envisioned in 21st-century metropolitan urban scenarios, is a concern that affects various sectors: governmental, academic, business, and social. These sectors operate amidst the challenges of exponential growth in the vehicle fleet and deficiencies in public transportation services. Furthermore, the study of mobility processes is undergoing a period of renewal in its working methods, results, and applications, while simultaneously facing a shortage of specialists in the field who are linked to environmental and sustainable processes. Therefore, the need to train specialists in these areas has become a prerequisite for proposing new teaching content in our universities, in accordance with the various anticipated scenarios.
Architects, engineers, and urban planners (among other professionals) today face the need to improve their research and analytical methods regarding social demands and to create systems that, despite the complexity of the urban phenomenon and the multitude of factors and variables that influence it, lead to a comprehensive and optimal solution for the development of our cities. The issues of urban mobility, transportation and land use, as well as sustainability, provide the conditions for training specialists with a high capacity for multidisciplinary teamwork, possessing the efficiency required to manage the dynamics of cultural and socioeconomic transformations in our cities.
The scope of this doctoral program includes all productive sectors, both public and private, with the aim of identifying social needs and generating solutions to the problem of urban mobility and transport, considering that the city is a dynamic entity that is constantly evolving, changing its structures, forms and processes continuously, and therefore requires the organization of the different sectors that make it up, as well as their active and timely intervention.
The doctoral program is thus situated within the margins and paradigms of multidisciplinarity and even transdisciplinarity, contributing to the enrichment and possible consolidation as a line of knowledge generation and application.

Admission Requirements
The requirements for admission to the Doctorate in Urban Mobility, Transport and Territory, in addition to those provided by university regulations, are the following:
- Birth certificate (Document requested by School Control).
- Master's degree or certificate of completion of degree examination in Urban Mobility, Transportation and
Territory, geography, architecture, urban planning, engineering, economics, sociology, environmental sciences. Applicants from other disciplines will be subject to the consideration of the Program's Academic Board;
- Demonstrate a minimum average of eighty with an original certificate or equivalent document from previous studies;
- Document that certifies and proves the minimum level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), preferably in English or its equivalents, with a maximum age of one year from the date of the admission decision.
- Letter of intent explaining why the applicant wishes to pursue the program;
- Pass the preparatory course (in accordance with the supplementary provisions of this call);
- Register with SIIAU and pay the corresponding fees
- Format containing the Declaration of Understanding on the allocation of national scholarships for postgraduate studies SECIHTI, which will be provided to you by the Postgraduate Coordination.
- Cover the fee corresponding to the preparatory course (the amount is updated in the call for applications)
In the case of foreign applicants, the degree, certificates and birth certificate must be apostilled or the applicable procedure for countries not members of the Hague Convention and if they are in a language other than Spanish, accompany a translation by an accredited expert.
