Mexico and the world are experiencing an epidemiological moment in which diseases related to nutrition predominate, both due to excesses, such as being overweight (in its different degrees) and chronic degenerative diseases, as well as due to deficiencies such as malnutrition and anemia.

The current situation of nutrition research is out of balance with the needs and demands of Mexican society. This direct doctorate is a research-oriented educational program, in a school-based modality, lasting 10 school cycles (5 years), within the framework of the translational research model. Its purpose is to train high-quality human resources capable of addressing problems related to the food-nutritional process based on multidisciplinary work between basic sciences and applied sciences, to innovate and optimize the generation and application of knowledge in this area.
