The Doctoral Program in Law is a project of the University of Guadalajara, which arises in order to generate legal knowledge about social phenomena and processes; train researchers of excellence at the doctoral level; and to increase, disseminate and preserve knowledge through publications and other means. By complying with the foregoing, it contributes to the solution of society's problems and to state and regional development, within a framework of autonomy, interdisciplinarity and pluralism. 
The design of the Doctoral Program in Law corresponds to the academic model of the University of Guadalajara, as an instrument for academic consolidation through legal and interdisciplinary research, where the production of legal knowledge can be translated into local, regional and international social development. international, and for this reason, it is projected from the Postgraduate Coordination in Law, of the Division of Legal Studies of the CUCSH, where 63% of the Basic Academic Nucleus (NAB) of the Doctoral Program, belong to the National System of Researchers (SNI) of the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT).  
Thus, the research orientations are created in coherence with the legal areas that have qualified academics in functions integrated into the Academies by Orientation, of the Postgraduate Law Coordination, to strategically release the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge (LGAC ) according to the research trajectories of the Full-Time Professors that make up the NAB. The LGAC of the Doctorate in Law are: 
  • Constitutional right 
  • Corporate Law 
  • Criminal law 
  • Labor law 
  • Legal Philosophy   

The training of the Doctorate Program in Law is oriented towards the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge, taking into account the flexibility, abilities and skills to build a framework oriented to the research of each student. Incorporating aspects of training and mastery of the epistemological and methodological aspects of legal research in each semester. Delving into the knowledge of the legal issues that are of priority interest to each student, in the lines of knowledge generation of the Program and the creation of theoretical-legal frameworks to respond to the legal requirements of society; and, providing training oriented to tutorial teaching, which acquires a personalized character based on the abilities and skills of each student.

Admission Requirements

  • Statement of reasons for pursuing the doctoral program.
  • Proposal of a legal research topic that shows coherence between the student's topic of interest and the line of research to which he aspires.
  • Commitment letter of full-time availability to attend the program.
  • Original and copy of the official document (title) and professional license that proves having obtained the degree of master's degree in law or related master's degree.
  • Accredit a minimum average of 80 (eighty) with an original master's certificate.
  • Prove foreign language proficiency: English: TOEFL paper-based certificate, or its equivalent, with the score determined by the Academic Board. French: TCF II Certificate, Test de Connaissance du Français. Other language: Certificate from the CUCSH language department.
  • Pass the CENEVAL EXANI III exam.
  • Obtain a favorable result in the curricular assessment interview.
  • Those additional ones that the call establishes.
