The Doctoral Program in Law is a project of the University of Guadalajara, created to generate legal knowledge about social phenomena and processes; train outstanding researchers at the doctoral level; and increase, disseminate, and preserve knowledge through publications and other means. By fulfilling these objectives, the program contributes to solving societal problems and to state and regional development within a framework of autonomy, interdisciplinarity, and pluralism.
The design of the Doctoral Program in Law corresponds to the academic model of the University of Guadalajara, as an instrument for academic consolidation through legal and interdisciplinary research, where the production of legal knowledge can be translated into local, regional and international social development, and therefore, it is projected from the Postgraduate Coordination in Law, of the Division of Legal Studies of the CUCSH, where 63% of the Basic Academic Core (NAB) of the Doctoral Program, belong to the National System of Researchers (SNI) of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).
Thus, the research orientations are designed in accordance with the legal areas that have qualified academics integrated into the Academies by Orientation, of the Postgraduate Coordination in Law, to strategically develop the Lines of Knowledge Generation and Application (LGAC) according to the research trajectories of the Full-Time Professors who make up the NAB. The LGACs of the Doctorate in Law are:
The Doctoral Program in Law is structured around the Lines of Knowledge Generation and Application, fostering flexibility, capabilities, and skills to develop each student's research-oriented framework. Each semester incorporates training and mastery of the epistemological and methodological aspects of legal research. Students delve into legal topics of primary interest, the Program's lines of knowledge generation, and the creation of theoretical-legal frameworks to address society's legal needs. The program provides tutorial-based instruction, personalized to each student's abilities and skills, ensuring adherence to the research progress submission schedule and the specific requirements of each project.

Admission Requirements
These are those established in the current university regulations, in addition to:
Other language: Certificate from the Department of Languages of CUCSH.
- Statement of reasons for pursuing the doctoral program.
- Proposal of a legal research topic that demonstrates coherence between the student's area of interest and the research line to which they aspire.
- Letter of commitment to full-time availability to complete the program.
- Original and copy of the official document (title) and professional license that proves having obtained the degree of master in law or related master's degree.
- Demonstrate a minimum average of 80 (eighty) with an original master's degree certificate.
- Proof of foreign language proficiency: English: TOEFL paper-based certificate, or its equivalent, with the score determined by the Academic Board.
Other language: Certificate from the Department of Languages of CUCSH.
- Accredit the CENEVAL EXANI III exam.
- Obtain a favorable result in the curriculum assessment interview.
- Those additional ones established by the call for applications.
