Bioengineering and intelligent computing are two rapidly growing areas of research worldwide. Among the characteristics that make them attractive, we can highlight the following:
  • They have potential for immediate and long-term application;
  • Some of these tools can be applied to solve complex problems, while others allow us to make decisions based on cutting-edge biomedical knowledge; and
  • The results of these investigations can lead to solutions in technological and biomedical sectors, both locally and nationally.

This is why we conducted a careful study of national and international graduates and postgraduate programs, from which it was possible to outline the program's potential in the following points:
  • The objectives of the postgraduate program should be scientific and oriented towards interdisciplinarity;
  • Based on this, the graduate profile should be oriented towards achieving, first, a set of soft skills and, second, other skills for knowledge generation, clearly oriented towards the development of their thesis project;
  • Similar to foreign programs, whose advantage lies in the plurality of learning units, this program should establish one group of units covering disciplinary foundations and another group maximizing multi- and interdisciplinarity. This categorization should not be understood as referring to the separate acquisition of “basic” and “advanced” skills, but rather to the independent structure of dynamic and incisive learning units that optimally covers the knowledge, skills, competencies, and values ​​that each student requires.
  • Then, once the diagnosis upon entry of each student has been carried out, as well as the identification of the skills required based on their respective scientific objectives of the research project, the selective specialized learning units necessary to complete their training will be defined.

The Master of Science program in Bioengineering and Intelligent Computing addresses a new field of scientific, technological, and social need that is currently in demand. Therefore, the objective of this master's program is to provide interdisciplinary training for individuals who, through scientifically rigorous paradigms and collaboration with others from diverse backgrounds, will conduct research and develop relevant biomedical and/or computational knowledge and technology within our local social context, as well as nationally and internationally. This must be achieved through mastery of specific tools and the application of multiple concepts, both current and global, drawn from various fields of knowledge.

Based on this paradigm and the core group of professors affiliated with the program, three lines of research are derived:
  • Biosignal Analysis
  • Computational Intelligence
  • Systems in Biology

Admission Requirements

In accordance with the General Regulations for Student Admission and the General Regulations for Postgraduate Studies of the University of Guadalajara, along with the requirements stipulated for this Master's program, the following are required:
  1. Any degree, demonstrating their motivation as well as their soft and scientific skills in the evaluation process
  2. Having obtained a bachelor's degree with a minimum average grade of 80, demonstrated with an original certificate or equivalent document
In exceptional cases, upon request of the applicant and after hearing the opinion of the Academic Board, the Education Commission of the University Center Council may waive the average requirement, when justified by the applicant's academic or professional trajectory.
  1. Submit the required documentation;
  2. Approve the admission procedure;
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of the English language, at least at level B1 or equivalent.
