The Interinstitutional Doctorate in Psychology (DIP) originated in the working meetings of the Interinstitutional Postgraduate Committee of the Public Universities of the Central-Western Region of the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES), in which the following Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) participate: the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, the Autonomous University of Nayarit, the University of Colima, the University of Guadalajara, the University of Guanajuato, and the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo. During these working meetings, the need to create a doctoral-level postgraduate program in the region was determined, based on the necessity of increasing academic competitiveness in the field of Psychology. This would promote the training of high-level researchers to improve the academic quality of undergraduate and, especially, master's degree programs offered in the region, as well as the generation and dissemination of knowledge in the field.
Initially, the DIP was a strategy to address the shortage of full-time professors with doctoral degrees who could individually form a Doctoral Program in Psychology in most of the participating institutions. However, this initial goal has been largely achieved by the institutions involved, thanks to the support received from the corresponding educational authorities so that professors could join the program.
However, it is imperative to continue training researchers, enabling universities to achieve the appropriate integration and consolidation of academic bodies and the establishment of high-quality graduate programs that are sustainable for each institution, as well as for the universities in the Central-Western Region of ANUIES (National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education). The DIP (Diploma of Professional Development) is an alternative that allows for a substantial increase in the academic levels of the region's faculty and professionals, thus improving the quality of education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and of services in the field of Psychology in the public and private sectors, while simultaneously promoting the development of scientific research.

Admission Requirements
These are those established in the current university regulations applicable to postgraduate studies, as well as the following:
For students with previous studies completed abroad, in addition to the above, the following is required:
- Simple copy of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
- Have a minimum average of 80 in undergraduate studies supported by the original certificate or document that is comparable to the previous studies, as the case may be.
- Copy of the professional license for a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
- A copy of the Master's degree in Psychology or a related field. If the degree is still being processed, provide proof that it is in process; a maximum of 6 months will be granted for its delivery.
- Master's degree certificate with a minimum average of 80 or equivalent, with original certificate or comparable document from previous studies.
- Have a Unique Population Registry Code (CURP). In the case of foreigners, it must be valid.
- Copy of the professional master's degree certificate.
- Valid proof of English level TOEFL 450 points minimum (valid for two years) or its equivalent.
- Valid proof of EXANI III, 1050 points minimum (valid for one year).
- Updated curriculum vitae with supporting documentation.
- Preliminary research project in one of the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge of the postgraduate program.
- Letter of intent outlining academic, professional and personal reasons for entering the doctoral program.
- Two academic letters of recommendation prepared by researchers.
- Letter of commitment to full-time dedication.
- Make the payment for the admission process on the dates established in the call for applications.
For students with previous studies completed abroad, in addition to the above, the following is required:
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees apostilled or with the applicable procedure for countries not members of the Hague Convention; and if they are in a language other than Spanish, accompany a translation by an accredited expert.
- For Mexican students graduating from foreign institutions, submit the revalidation of studies by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP);
- Foreign students who graduated from foreign institutions must present equivalency of studies from the SEP.
