The University Network implemented in Jalisco by our University of Guadalajara, has been the fundamental engine to consolidate the creation and consolidation of the Doctoral Program in City, Territory and Sustainability. The collaboration of an important group of specialists and researchers in different Network Centers, as well as the invaluable support of the Consolidated Academic Body of the Center for Research on the Environment and Territorial Planning (UDG-CA-11) of the University Center for Art, Architecture and Design (CUAAD), has allowed qualitative growth to generate quality options in postgraduate studies. In the same way, a significant number of academics from national and international institutions have paid their experience, capacity and commitment over the years,
In its 19-year history, the Postgraduate Program has always supported the development of inclusive research topics, in relation to the study of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and more recently gender issues, women, and the city. Within the trajectory of the Postgraduate Program, 119 students have graduated, of which 67 are men and 52 women (44%). Currently there are a total of 16 Full Time Professors, of which 9 are women (56%) and of the 43 regular students, 42% are women (18).
In 2017, the Doctoral Program was reevaluated and achieved recognition as Consolidated within the National Quality Postgraduate Program - PNPC at the national level, a situation that generates and forces the search for increasingly ambitious expectations and levels of demand aimed at achieve recognition at the international level. The Postgraduate Program is currently working on all the information required for the file with a view to the next evaluation to be carried out in 2021, in addition to updating the Study Plan, including the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge, seeking the inclusion of priority topics in research with a focus on gender, citizenship, poverty and empowerment.
In this way, the Doctoral Program is presented today as a quality option in the training of Doctors who dominate the study and urban-territorial intervention, the development and management of geographic space and urban dynamics, with a scientific, interdisciplinary and within the framework of the global processes of the information society, in the process of achieving a sustainable, human and responsible future, through the generation of new and pertinent knowledge, as well as the use of appropriate technologies.
The quality of the Program, led the Central University of Ecuador to establish a Specific Agreement with the University of Guadalajara to teach the Postgraduate Program in its Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism based in the city of Quito, Ecuador, with the aim of preparing your academic staff. Currently, the Generation 2017A-2020B has 10 doctors and 1 in the process of graduating. The same agreement was renewed in 2019 and there is currently the 2019 "B" Generation, which is made up of 11 students from this same University.
