The Doctorate in Cognition and Learning aims to train researchers committed to their social reality, capable of generating knowledge from in-depth study, interdisciplinary dialogue, and methodological rigor that impacts the development of science and its social appropriation, through the identification, understanding, and study of educational problems related to the processes of cognition and learning.
Through the research lines "Cognitive Processes" and "Cognition, Cultures, and Society," the doctoral program fosters the development of research on diverse topics that contribute to promoting educational proposals as a means of social inclusion. The "Cognitive Processes" research line integrates investigations related to reading, writing, and arithmetic; the basic processes of cognition; and research that deepens the understanding of the influence of new technologies, such as Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), on cognitive development. The "Cognition, Cultures, and Society" line, on the other hand, is conceived as a space for developing research on social learning; the relationship between cognition, culture, and learning; and the study of educational processes.
Through the research themes developed, the doctorate in cognition and learning offers a broad field of inquiry into cognition and learning, under different methodological perspectives, resulting in research products that influence the development of intervention proposals that promote the solution of social problems related to education.
Despite being a recently created program, the impact of the doctorate on scientific development, the dissemination of knowledge to the general population, as well as the commitment to social change can be observed through the scientific dissemination activities, in which both the professors of the doctoral program and their students have participated; these activities have been carried out in local contexts, for example through conferences to students of other educational levels; regional contexts, through participation in radio programs; as well as international contexts, through participation in academic and dissemination events.
Thus, the Doctorate in Cognition and Learning fills a gap present in other postgraduate proposals through a comprehensive training proposal with solid theoretical and methodological foundations on cognition and learning; favored by a multidisciplinary teaching staff, with whom students develop research projects, which although they may be specific, start from the recognition of the complexity of the educational phenomenon through a biopsychosocial view of cognition and learning; as well as the need for dialogue and collaborative work for the solution of problems related to education.

Admission Requirements
- Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Cognition, or any discipline related to education and/or the social sciences. If the applicant does not hold a degree related to the program's subject matter, they must demonstrate, to the discretion of the program's Academic Board, a strong interest in research related to cognition and learning.
- Demonstrate a minimum average of eighty with an original certificate or equivalent document from previous studies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, at least at level B1 (B2 preferred) or equivalent (examples of exams: TOEFL, ITP, TOEIC, IELTS, etc.).
- Letter of intent explaining the reasons for taking the program.
- Proposal for a research project by the candidate in accordance with the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge of this postgraduate program.
- Submit the EXANI III (CENEVAL) exam, and pass it with the score established by the Academic Board.
- Interview with the Academic Board of the program.
- Accredit the preparatory course.
- Those additional ones that are established in the call for applications.
