During the training, you use the experimental or comparative approach to elucidate the mechanisms or interrelationships which are expressed on spatial scales ranging from the molecule to the biosphere and on temporal scales ranging from the immediacy of synaptic transmission to the slow recycling of elements of biogeochemical cycles.

General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or another undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the M. Sc. (biological sciences), the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI of the Educational Regulations) for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold a specialized B. Sc. (biological sciences) or a baccalaureate with a major or minor in biology or an undergraduate diploma adequately preparing for the studies they wish to undertake, or attest to a training deemed equivalent
  • have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
  • candidates for the quantitative and computational biology option must also have successfully completed the BIO2041 Biostatistics 1 course (or the equivalent) with a minimum grade of B

The student must have a good knowledge of French and English
