To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the Master's degree in sociology, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold an undergraduate degree specialized in sociology, or an undergraduate degree with a major in sociology, or a bidisciplinary undergraduate degree including sociology or demonstrate training deemed equivalent. The holder of an undergraduate degree with a minor in sociology or an undergraduate degree without training in sociology may be admitted conditionally on the successful completion of a preparatory course defined by the Graduate Studies Committee upon examination of his or her file. and his profile
  • have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if this -this is higher.
