Admission Requirements
General eligibility conditions
To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec
To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:
Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.
Minimum average:
- Bishop: 75%
- Concordia University: 3.0/4.3
- Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
- HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
- McGill University: 3.0/4.0
- Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0

- Universities of Quebec: 3.2/4.3
To be eligible as a regular student for the Master's degree in sociology, the candidate must:
- meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
- hold an undergraduate degree specialized in sociology, or an undergraduate degree with a major in sociology, or a bidisciplinary undergraduate degree including sociology or demonstrate training deemed equivalent. The holder of an undergraduate degree with a minor in sociology or an undergraduate degree without training in sociology may be admitted conditionally on the successful completion of a preparatory course defined by the Graduate Studies Committee upon examination of his or her file. and his profile
- have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if this -this is higher.
