Bachelor in Demography and Statistics

Are you interested in analyzing quantitative data on major societal issues? Demography and statistics come together in this unique program which uses demographic and statistical tools to meet the challenges of our contemporary societies.

Demography is the study of population renewal through the combined effect of fertility, mortality and migration. The demographer is thus called upon to analyze these demographic phenomena, among other things by looking at their variations in time and space, so as to understand how this affects individuals, families and society.

This program will help you learn about the social issues and the factors that explain, in Quebec and elsewhere in the world:

• aging populations
• the intensification of migratory exchanges
• declining fertility levels
• diversification of family forms and residential arrangements
• increasing human longevity
• the evolution of medical causes of death
• the ethnic diversification of populations and the integration of immigrants
• etc
