Whether you are studying or on the job market, acquire the tools to contribute to the search for solutions to the major ecological challenges of the 21st century. Integrating the natural, social and human sciences, the master's degree with internship combines general interdisciplinary training in environment and sustainable development (ESD) and specialized training in the field you choose. Please note that the course includes 30 course credits and 15 internship credits.

This program aims to make you an interdisciplinary specialist in environment and sustainable development. With this in mind, it prepares you to:

  • Analyze a problem, develop and implement intervention plans integrating ecological and social dimensions adapted to their context of application
  • Communicate effectively both with specialists from other disciplines and with local communities and decision-makers
  • Take a critical look at various disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches in the field, while recognizing the contribution and limits of each to the construction of knowledge
  • Acquire the tools necessary to carry out research in environment and sustainable development
  • Apply knowledge of environment and sustainable development through practical experience

General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or another undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the Master's in Environment and Sustainable Development with Internship, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold an undergraduate degree adequately preparing for the studies they wish to undertake, or provide evidence of training considered equivalent
  • have obtained in the 1st cycle a cumulative average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if this this is higher
