Are you passionate about the great religious and spiritual traditions? Do the new religious movements question you? The master's degree in religious sciences allows you to discover or deepen the different faces of spirituality and to interpret the manifestations of religion in society.
The religious sciences programs at UdeM offer a description, analysis and understanding of religious phenomena based mainly on anthropology, history, philosophy, sociology, psychoanalysis, cultural studies and political sciences, but also in critical dialogue with theology.
At the heart of a metropolis renowned for its cultural, ethnic and religious diversity, the Institute of Religious Studies (IÉR) aims to integrate fundamental and applied research to deepen religions according to their contexts and challenges. Its approach in theology, religious sciences and spirituality favors an interdisciplinary approach and draws on the human and social sciences.

Admission Requirements
General eligibility conditions
To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec
To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:
Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or another undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.
Minimum average:
- Bishop: 75%
- Concordia University: 3.0/4.3
- Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
- HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
- McGill University: 3.0/4.0
- Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0
- University of Sherbrooke: 3.0/4.3
- Laval University: 3.0/4.3
- Universities of Quebec: 3.2/4.3
To be eligible as a regular student for the master's degree in religious sciences, the candidate must:
- meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
- hold an undergraduate degree with a minor or the equivalent in religious studies, religious sciences or theology
- have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 or (the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if this -this is higher
- demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the French and English languages and any other language, ancient or modern, deemed necessary for the pursuit of their research.
