In recent years the biological sciences have made spectacular progress motivated by the development of knowledge, methods and techniques of the disciplines that comprise them. This development has prompted the dissolution of the traditional barriers between the different disciplines. Currently, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, pharmacology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, and neuroscience, among others, speak the same scientific language and use the same tools to answer research questions and problems.

Within this context of change in the world, the proposal of the Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences arises, with orientations in Immunology and Neurosciences, product of the integration of the Doctorate in Immunology and the Doctorate in Neurosciences for Health, both of the University Center of Sciences of Health at the University of Guadalajara.

The mission of the Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences is to train quality researchers with comprehensive training in the field of immunology and neuroscience, with a focus on the study and resolution of priority health problems. It is a postgraduate course with quality (PNPC International Competition), relevance and recognition of its scientific activities, in close connection with national and international academic bodies and different sectors of society. The student in training has a central role, with a scientific and social sense. Teachers and students put forward critical, reflective attitudes, solidarity, respect, tolerance, group participation and promotion of culture.
