Limited option whose accessibility is reserved for engineers and physicists. Also offered in an integrated bachelor's-master's program with École Polytechnique.


Profile with thesis This profile promotes the development of the scientific component of the training and constitutes an introduction to research. It is the usual way to pursue Ph.D. studies in biomedical engineering.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate

To be eligible as a regular student for the M.Sc.A. (biomedical engineering), the candidate must:
  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Academic Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold a bachelor's degree in science, applied science or engineering, or a doctorate in medicine (MD), veterinary medicine (DMV) or dentistry (DMD)
  • have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
  • demonstrate a good knowledge of the French and English languages
  • obtain the support of a professor who agrees to supervise the work.

Clinical engineering option
  • hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or a bachelor's degree in physics. The candidate could be required to take up to 8 additional courses in the disciplines deemed necessary.
  • the option being limited, a selection interview is imposed.

BMI path For the integrated bachelor's-master's (BMI) path in biomedical engineering, clinical engineering option, between École Polytechnique and Université de Montréal, the candidate must:
  • have completed or be in the process of completing 105 credits of the BMI pathway, with an average equal to or greater than 3.0 out of 4.0
  • the program being limited, a selection interview is imposed
  • an eligible academic record does not guarantee access to the master's program.
