The Erasmus Mundus International Master in Quantum Technologies and Engineering (QuanTEEM) offers a unique international degree programme focused on cutting-edge quantum technologies.  

The programme is offered as a collaboration between 3 leading universities in the field: 

  • Aarhus University (AU) in Denmark 
  • Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC) in France 
  • Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK) in Germany 


As a student in this programme, you will spend the first semester at UBFC in France. In the second semester you can choose between specialisations in Photonics (UBFC, France) or Many-Body Quantum Physics ( (TUK, Germany). In the third semester, you can further specialise in Integrated Quantum Optics (TUK, Germany) or Platforms for Quantum Technologies (AU, Denmark). The final semester is dedicated to your master's thesis, which can be carried out at any of the three universities or associated partners.  

QuanTEEM addresses global challenges in energy, materials, health, security, and the environment by combining physics, materials science, and computer science. The programme prepares you to become a highly skilled quantum engineer with the expertise to contribute to both academic research and technological innovation. 
 
Career: 

Graduates of the QuanTEEM programme are prepared for careers in global quantum tech industries, top-tier PhD programmes, or entrepreneurship—equipped with strong expertise and an international professional network.

Admission Requirements

The following Bachelor's degrees qualify students for admission to the Master's degree programme in Quantum Technologies and Engineering:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Aarhus University, the University of Southern Denmark or the University of Copenhagen.

The following other degrees can provide admission to the Master’s degree programme in Quantum Technologies and Engineering:
  • Another Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in Physics or related fields.

In connection with possible admission, further requirements can be stipulated regarding the composition of the degree programme. 

Students are admitted through the central application procedures coordinated by UBFC in collaboration with the partners.
English language requirements:
Cambridge English First (FCE) - Grade A or B
Certificate of a University Language Centre testifying that the student masters the necessary knowledge of English to function academically (specify CEF-level / minimum CEF-level B2)
