The MSc in Biology at Aarhus University enhances your analytical, critical, and creative thinking whilst building on the biological knowledge gained in your bachelor's degree. The programme combines theory, observation, and hands-on experimental research through laboratory work, field excursions, lectures, and seminars. 


The programme offers a flexible structure, which you can design to fit your skills and preferences. A wide range of courses are offered within three major biological disciplines: 


  • Ecophysiology 
  • Biodiversity and Evolution 
  • Ecology 


As a Biology student at Aarhus University, you have excellent opportunities to conduct fieldwork - either at the Danish field stations, in the Arctic, or aboard the university's research vessel, Aurora. Both during fieldwork, and in regular courses, you will experience close interaction with professors and the possibility to contribute to ongoing research projects.  


The Department of Biology has a vibrant and active student community - throughout your degree, you will be able to join both academic and social activities and excursions organized by and for Biology students.   


Career: 


Biology graduates work in research and development, administration, consultancy, and teaching and communication. Careers span biotechnology, the environment, nature, agriculture, and fishing, both nationally and internationally in public and private roles.
