In the Work-Integrated Master’s degree in Molecular Biology at Aarhus University, you study part-time while working part-time in a company or organisation. This allows you to apply molecular biology methods and research skills directly to real-world projects. After the 4-year programme, you graduate with both solid work experience and a high-quality master’s degree.

The programme provides a strong foundation in molecular biology while allowing you to specialise in one or more of the university’s key areas: molecular cell biology, protein science, molecular plant biology, molecular nutrition, and bioinformatics. In your first year, you focus on electives and specialisation courses, while your second year is dedicated to an independent thesis, often carried out in collaboration with active research groups.

Teaching combines lectures, practical lab and computational work, and project-based learning. You develop skills in critical thinking, data analysis, experimental design, and project management, gaining hands-on experience that prepares you for both research and industry.

Career

Graduates are in demand in the food industry, health sector, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, research, production, teaching, communication, and consultancy. Many continue into PhD programmes or secure full-time roles with their work-integrated employer.
