Biotechnology is about using nature's own biological systems and organisms to develop sustainable technologies in areas such as medicine, health, green energy and environmental technology. It is an area that the world community is investing heavily in, and in Denmark we are at the forefront. With this education – where you will, among other things, gain solid theoretical specialist knowledge in subjects such as biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, cell biology, mathematics and biotechnological production – you will therefore enter a job market with very low unemployment.

Everyday life at the studio The teaching in Biotechnology is a combination of lectures, theoretical exercises, classroom teaching and laboratory and project work, and you will gain a broad network through teaching together with chemists and molecular biologists, among others. You will be taught by top researchers, who will also be your project supervisors. You will spend your daily time in and around the University Park, which is centrally located in the center of Aarhus.

Career opportunities The Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology gives you direct access to the 2-year Master's degree in Civil Engineering (cand.polyt.) in Chemistry and Biotechnology. With it in hand, you have a sought-after business-oriented and research-based profile that gives you the opportunity for a career in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry, the energy sector, the water and environmental sector, the healthcare sector and the food industry. And the opportunities are global.

Technology frontrunners Civil engineers have been at the forefront of technological development since industrialization and have built a bridge between research and reality with technical insight and theoretical knowledge. Here, there is a short path from theory to practice, and you receive an internationally recognized education at a high professional and theoretical level, which enables you to independently analyze and solve technical problems from a societal perspective.
