In the Work-Integrated Master’s degree in Nanoscience at Aarhus University, you study part-time while working part-time in a company or organisation. This setup lets you apply nanoscale methods and scientific concepts directly to real projects, giving you both practical experience and a high-quality master’s degree after the 4-year programme.

Nanoscience is an inherently interdisciplinary field that examines and manipulates materials at the nanoscale to create new or enhanced properties. Throughout the programme, you strengthen your skills in experimental techniques, analysis, and nanoscale modelling, while gaining insight into applications ranging from medicine and biotechnology to materials science and environmental technology.

The programme allows you to specialise within Aarhus University’s core nanoscience strengths:

  • Nanophysics
  • Nanochemistry
  • Molecular Biology

You can also explore broader themes such as nanomaterials, nanocatalysis, nanobiotechnology, nanomedicine, nanofood, toxicology, and the ethical dimensions of nanotechnology. Teaching combines lectures, laboratory exercises, and small-group work in a collaborative environment with close interaction with researchers at iNANO.

Career

Graduates from the work-integrated MSc in Nanoscience are equipped for research and development roles in biotechnology, medicine, environmental technology, and the IT and communication sectors. Many continue into PhD programmes or collaborate with leading companies through iNANO partnerships.
